Govinda teams up with Fukrey's Varun Sharma for Fry-Day

Govinda’s last film Aa Gaya Hero was a lousy affair. The star is now keen to put that disaster behind and make a comeback with a solid comedy, a genre he excels in. It seems he has told writers Rajeev Kaul, who has written blockbusters in the 90’s like Shola Aur Shabnam and Ishq to prepare a script. He will be collaborating with Manu Rishi who is known for his quirky comedies like Oye Lucky! Lucky One! for this big project. The film, titled Fry-Day will be made on a big scale and is an out and out comedy. Varun Sharma whom we adored as Choocha from Fukrey will be his co-star. The report was published in Mumbai Mirror. The film is being helmed by Akshay Dogra, who directed the Sonam Kapoor comedy, Dolly Ki Doli. He told Mumbai Mirror, “The idea was to put together two writers, who are great at comedy, but with completely different sensibilities. The final script is fantastic and it was great to see Rajeevji and Manu come together without any ego.” Varun was fantastic in Dolly Ki Doli as well. He and Govinda plays partners-in crime in the film. (Also Read: Dance Plus 3: Govinda mesmerises the audience with his presence and killer dance moves)

Govinda, who is now in Sri Lanka said, “It’s a brilliant comedy of errors. A fun ride with two partners-in-crime, and I am so excited about it.” The actor has been seen on TV quite often of late gracing shows like Dance Plus 3, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai and most recently The Lip Sing Battle. We saw Raveena Tandon and him dancing on Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare. The hunt for a leading lady is on and should be finalised soon. Fry-Day will be shot in locations across big cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. Needless to say, this is a huge fan moment for Varun Sharma. He told the paper,  “I’ve grown up watching his films, dancing to his hits and imitating his dialogues in school. I’m excited to be sharing screen space with him but also happy that I’ll finally know how he improvises and what makes Govinda, the legendary comedian-actor tick on the big screen.” Stay tuned to BL for more updates…
