Though the lyrics can be sensed as crude sometimes, there is a hidden message to the West Indian Cricket Board in the song.


The T20 World Cup 2016 not only gave us a new champion in the West Indies team, but also a new song to cheer up.


The Champion song has been the West Indies’ team’s victory march song and has been lapped up by the entire world as the team conquered others during each stage of the game!


Like we have the Mauka Mauka song, Champion is now the Caribbean’s unofficial song, and will be heard for a long time in future. So people who are still stuck to that catchy but outdated Oo la la la song, it’s time for a change!


Just when you thought you will hear the song on the grounds of every cricket stadiums the West Indies team will play and win in future, they have now released an official version that features popular West Indies player, Dwayne Bravo who is nicknamed as DJ. It personifies the rockstar attitude of each of the players (Come on, any team featuring Chris Gayle and Bravo is a rockstar team!


Though the lyrics can be sensed as crude sometimes, there is a hidden message to the West Indian Cricket Board in the song. Apparently, there have been a lot of conflicts with the players and the Board over various issues like contracts, remuneration, facilities etc. and this is the players’ musical protest.
