Time is here to give credit where it is due…
Three months in 2016 are already over and we can safely say it was a great first quarter. Films with patriotic theme did wonders at the box office and a few of the actors even surprised us. We bring to you five best actors of the first quarter of 2016 and we are pretty sure you will agree with us. And yea, you can vote and tell us who pleased you more with their performance.
Airlift was everything we hoped it would be. The story of such a massive evacuation carried out by Indian Government found instant takers. But a lot of credit goes to Akshay Kumar for shouldering this film. It makes us feel proud that the actor is delving into varied cinema because his talent is remarkable which till recently was understated. Finally, people have realised what he can do. Airlift is easily his best performance ever! My personal favourite was his act in Patiala House, it even made me choke. But he has just outdid himself with Airlift.
This is a man is all of two films old in Bollywood but Fawad Khan is no fresher. He has done plenty of Pakistani shows which, thankfully, don’t veer into absurdities but deal with some real and relevant relationships. His Zindagi Gulzar Hai has been a superhit and with that, he became someone we all would want in our life. Khoobsurat gave us the best looking Prince we ever saw but Kapoor & Sons is easily the biggest feather on his cap. He played a homosexual in the film which got so much love that the film made big money within a few days. It’s a brave role, and we are ready to bet none of our superstars, young or old, would dare to do it.
It’s obviously Shakun Batra’s talent that he managed to prove to the world Sidharth Malhotra is not just a pretty face. He can act too when the role demands so. He has given his career’s best performance in this film and we feel all credit goes to the director of Kapoor & Sons.
Again, a homosexual character got much accolade with one of the most sensible films of this decade Aligarh and all the credit goes to Manoj Bajpayee, who delivered his career best performance. He was just brilliant in the role of a professor whose sexual orientation created a chaos. Nobody else could have done that role and we are glad Hansal Mehta decided to bring alive this true story on the silver screen.
Words fall short to describe the genius of a man called Amitabh Bachchan. Even at this age, characters get written for him and the reason being, he delivers. We are simply privileged to have an actor like him working in our films. Wazir would have been nothing if AB hadn’t decided to be part of it. In fact, it was his performance that helped the film sail through. Of course, he got ample support from the multi-talent Farhan Akhtar but it was Bachchan’s impeccable acting that made this film what it is.
