The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics are by Sameer Anjaan and Shabbir Ahmed.
While we can’t get over Himesh’s poker face, his 6-packs and his attempt to turn Christian Grey in the trailers of Teraa Surroor, supposedly a sequel to his sleeper hit Aap Ka Surroor, there is one thing we are quite sure – he is going to produce some quality soundtrack in this Shawn Arranha-directed film. And we are not disappointed at all! Actually,we are more than impressed!
Here’s our review of the album…
Main Woh Chaand
The song begins with a piano interlude, and it works well, even before Darshan Rawal enters the proceedings. This is a song that you won’t have an option but to like, and save on your playlist. However, the first few notes of the song might remind you of Hum Tere Bin Ab Reh Nahi Sakte from Aashiqui 2, but don’t worry, the song carves its own identity after that! A very nice start!
Bekhudi
If you thought Main Woh Chaand was good, wait till you hear Bekhudi! It’s fantastic and owns you from the first few seconds itself. Darshan Rawal returns, this time sounding more like Himesh himself, making us wonder why the actor-composer himself hadn’t taken up the singing duties. This was a song perfect for his voice, plus it has his usual trope of having a single word repeated thrice (Bekhudi here…). The romantic duet also has Aditi Singh Sharma sounding oh so alluring!
Wafa Na Bewafai
The third romantic song is lighter in essence, and is more Bollywood-y. This time, it’s our fave singer of the decade, Arijit Singh’s chance to sound like Himesh! But the song is nice and mellifluous,so we don’t have much complaints there! Arijit is in good company with the presence of co-singers Suzanne D’mello and Neeti Mohan, who actually score better than their more popular male singer. Also liked the synchronized clapping bit!
Teri Yaad
Himesh is BACK after making other singers sound like him, and surprisingly, he chose a party number to make his entry as a singer in the album. He and Badshah gives us the party song of Teraa Suroor. Though the song doesn’t break new grounds when it comes the songs of this genre, Himesh – Badshah combo works in in this making an entertaining one, nevertheless. Loved the flute interlude, though!
Adhuri Zindagi
After the party number i.e. Teri Yaad, the album gets into love rock with Adhuri Zindagi, a brilliant number in the list. Rituraj Mohanty does a terrific job in bringing the right amount of angst, passion, pathos into the song, carving a niche identity for itself! Alternating from being rock to soft, the song surprises you at every turn! A must listen! Even the lyrics need a special mention here…
Ishq Samundar (Reloaded)
I have no clue why this song is there in the album, since the original Ishq Samundar from Kaante was composed by Anand Raaj Anand. An enjoyable number, nevertheless, it has Kanika Kapoor taking on from where Sunidhi Chauhan left, while Himesh covers Anand Raaj Anand’s portions pretty well. Himesh has added his own little twerks in the songs, however, the song maintains its core even in its reloaded avatar.
Teri Yaad (reprise)
Teri Yaad returns again, this time without Badhash, and is now a slow romantic number, that Himesh is so known for. This will be easily lapped by his innumerable fans, though compared to the other songs in the album, it makes a slightly less impact. But it’s still a good listen while it lasts!
Our verdict
We really laud Himesh for not hoarding the better songs of the album to himself, and distributing them to other singers. The album is definitely a feather in his illustrious career as a composer, and will be loved his fans and non-fans alike. A sure thumbs up from us! The composer has won, let’s see how the actor will fare…
