Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi’s Supriya Pilgaonkar LAMENTS the herd mentality in the TV industry!

In a short interview with us, the veteran actress opened up on a number of things!

Actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, who was last seen on Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls is all set to be seen on screen as Shaheer Sheikh aka Dev’s mother in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. Known for her performances in shows like Tu Tu Main Main and Sasural Genda Phool, the actress will be playing a mother to a very focused on the show. Talking exclusively to BollywoodLife, she said, “Yes, I liked the concept of the show a lot. It was different from what I had done before. I picked it up immediately without much thought.”

The actress says she had done shows where she had bonded with daughters and bahus. That came easily to her as she is mother to an 18-year-old daughter, Shreya in real life. However, being a doting mom to a son was a different ball game.

“I have seen close relations between a mother and son in actual life but never experienced it. My bonding with Dev (Shaheer) on and off screen has been beautiful so far. It has helped me in building that chemistry,” she opines. The veteran actress also has words of praise for her handsome onscreen son. Supriya says he is a fantastic human being with a child-like aura about him. “He has grown as an actor. Our scenes come out very spontaneously,” she says.

The actress comes from a time when the content on Indian TV was of a truly high standard. People still revere the shows of the 80s and 90s. When we asked her if the current trend of supernatural tracks was a turn-off for her as an actor, the lady replied, “Somehow, I have managed to find work that appeals to me. I have never done a supernatural show. If tomorrow a supernatural track comes up in this show, I won’t do it. I did not sign up for that.” However, the actress feels that there is pressure on channels to cater to audience across segments.

She also rues the herd mentality prevalent in the industry. “It’s the creatives job to deliver good stories. One can’t say that public likes a particular type of ‘content’ and stop making efforts. People responsible for the change are not taking the risks.”

She is a huge fan of Shaheer’s magnum opus show, Mahabharat and also loves Siya Ke Ram and Suryaputra Karn. “Inki scripting upar se aati hai…One gets to learn a lot from them,” she says. The actress is a huge fan of mythological shows and feels they have a good message.

Supriya says she is critical of her work and watches her show to make improvements. In the younger lot, she is fond of Mona Vasu, Ratan Rajput and Ragini Khanna. “I have deep regard for my Sasural Genda Phool co-stars. They were a fabulous bunch,” she signs off as she takes about her love for actors Sadia Siddiqui, Bhairavi Raichura and Anita Kanwal. Supriya, over the years has done fiction shows on TV, Marathi films as well as a dance reality show.
