Oscar is a gala event. Every year it gives us abundant moments of fun and laughter. Who could forget internet’s darling Jennifer Lawrence tripping over her dress while going up stage to collect her award? Actually Hugh Jackman helped her up, so joke is on us. Or Ellen DeGeneres’ call for Pizza for everyone in middle of the ceremony? It is so hard to not laugh when these moments are up here on the screen.

From the red carpet to press conferences post the ceremony we get to witness so many moments of pure goofiness that makes us believe that stars are just like us. From photo bombing to name slips. From tripping over stuff to hilarious anchoring skills. Oscar has had some of the funniest moments ever.

Julia Roberts asking the band to not play

So actors are not allowed to give long award acceptance speech. If it goes beyond a certain time frame, the band starts playing. Rude but true. But Julia Roberts totally nailed it when she asked the band to sit down and let her have her moment. She said, “And sir you’re doing a great job but you are so quick with that stick so why don’t you sit. Because I may never be here again.” She had won an award for Best Actress for Erin Brockovich.

Jennifer Lawrence getting video bombed by Jack Nicholson

Jennifer won the trophy for the Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. Although the laugh riot started right when she tripped over, the best laugh came when Jack Nicholson video bombed one of her backstage interviews. She was taken aback by surprise. And she couldn’t control her expressions saying it all.

This may be me fanboy-ing over her to pick her twice on the same list. But her backstage performance was indeed hilarious. She proved she is just as goofy and socially awkward and weird like most of us out there.

Long before Matt and Ben were famous actors, they won an Oscar for writing Good Will Hunting. Yes they wrote the film together and also starred in it. They both were very young and fresh in the industry and that is so evident with this awkward speech of theirs.

Meryl is the Oscar queen. She has won the trophy twice already before. So when she won another trophy for The Iron Lady, she boldly acknowledged what everyone had on their mind –“Aww! Her Again?” . And her reply to them “Whatever”. We love you Meryl!
