Neerja box office collection: Sonam Kapoor's heroic film earns Rs 38.47 crore in 8 days!

The film continues to perform well at the domestic box office during the second week too…

Sonam Kapoor‘s hijack drama- Neerja, which is based on the life of Pan Am flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who saved the lives of 359 people from a hijacked plane, has been a run away hit at the domestic box office. The film has managed to engage the audience and a good word of mouth publicity meant that the cinema-goers preferred to watch this film over the other films released last week. The number of screen were increased from 700 to 900 this week too and it has shown positive results. The movie earned another Rs 3.15 crore on Friday to take its total collection to Rs 38.47 crore in 8 days.

The film continues to dominate and will soon cross the Rs 50 crore mark too. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed in his tweet, “#Neerja continues to DOMINATE, despite a plethora of new film releases. Sat and Sun biz should again witness GOOD growth… #Neerja [Week 2] Fri 3.15 cr. Total: ₹ 38.47 cr. India biz… Racing towards ₹ 50 cr mark. AWESOME!”

The film has received a lot of rave reviews and Sonam Kapoor has earned a lot of appreciation too. Things are set to change for the actress too, as exhibitor and distributor had mentioned to us, “In terms of the ability of drawing in the audience and win acclaim as a solo actress, Neerja will certainly change things around for Sonam Kapoor. Things started turning around subtly after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, but Neerja will be her career changing film.. This film will be a landmark film in her career as an actress.”
