Want to watch a different love story that’s not all about love at first sight and romancing at foreign locales? Then perhaps Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is for you. After all, it brings back Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana together in a movie after their terrific pairing in the lovely Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is the official remake of Tamil rom-com, Kalyana Samayal Saadham, and is directed by RS Prasanna, who also helmed the original movie. Another interesting fact about Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is that it is co-produced by Aanand L Rai, the director of Tanu Weds Manu series and Raanjhanaa.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is about how a boy and a girl are brought together by an arranged marriage alliance, and how a meeting after another leads them to develop their relationship. When they finally are completely in love with each and ready to get married, the boy learns a shocking news about himself. The movie is about how their love story transition from engagement to marriage, even when a life-changing challenge faces them early on. With very subtle and natural romance and ample amount of warmth and humour, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is for you if you like movies like Tanu Weds Manu and Piku.
Aanand L Rai, who has produced the movie along with Krishika Lulla, says, “We want to have a reason to make a film breaks the notion of making middle class a conservative society. After introducing characters like Tanu, Manu and Datto (‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’), Zoya and Kundan (‘Raanjhanaa’) and Happy (‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’), it’s time to present this remarkable couple, Sugandha and Mudit, to the audience. Both Ayushmann and Bhumi are talented actors and they share great chemistry on screen.”
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is releasing on September 1.
