Akshay Kumar and Amruta Fadnavis honour soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas – view HQ pics

Akshay Kumar has joined the politicos for a special function to honour the soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas. For all those who are unaware Kargil Vijay Diwas, is actually celebrated on July 26 after the success of the operation named Vijay. In 1999, India successfully managed to take command of the high outposts which we had lost to Pakistani intruder. You might know the history, how the Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days. The war came to an end on July 26 with India regaining their possession of the place Kargil. Of course, many lives were lost from both the sides due to this war. Hence, today is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas, to honour the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Generally the day is celebrated with a lot of fervour and enthusiasm at the Capital and in the Kargil – Dras sector. A lot of functions are held to respect the soldiers who died on the battlefield.

The Toilet – Ek Prem Katha actor, along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta and many other politicians commemorated a function in honour of all the jawans. The event was held at Churchgate along with a few soldiers in uniforms. A structure with ‘Amar Jawan’ printed was paid respect to by the actor as well as the politicians. he interacted with the soldiers too. Check out pics from the event below.

We’ll be seeing Akshay along with Bhumi Pednekar for Toilet – Ek Prem Katha. Since the movie is set to release next month in Independence Day weekend, they’ve started promotions of the same. Very recently, the cast of Toilet flew to London to hold a small press interaction regarding the film. The film holds a strong message for the audience with regard to use of public toilets and building one in rural areas. On the same, Akshay had exclusively even told us his thoughts on why the use of toilets must be promoted in rural areas. He stated that it reduces the chances of rape as women in the open are exposed, leading to a mass percent of rapes.
