Despite Badrinath Ki Dulhania’s tremendous start, Alia Bhatt’s biggest box office opener is still Shaandaar

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt‘s Badrinath Ki Dulhania has set the box office on fire with a tremendous opening on day one. The movie has managed to collect Rs 12.25 crore at the box office, making it the highest opener for Varun and Alia’s jodi. However, Badrinath Ki Dulhania could not give Alia Bhatt her highest opening ever. Even though she has given one of her finest performances in the movie, it could not beat the likes of Shaandaar (Rs 13.10 crore) and 2 States (Rs 12.42 crore) at the box office. And so, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is now Alia’s third highest box office opener ever. Considering that Badrinath Ki Dulhania had a fantastic buzz, Varun-Alia’s pairing is crackling and the movie got 3000 plus screens, we expected it to beat Shaandaar. In fact, Shaandaar was one of those disappointing movies which failed to impress the audience. Still it is Alia’s highest opener. Strange na? Anyway, apart from these two movies; 2 States, Udta Punjab and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania make up the top 5 openers of Alia Bhatt’s career. Check out the list right here:

However, the actress has nothing to worry. With a strong word of mouth publicity growing for Badrinath Ki Dulhania, we expect the film to see a fantastic growth over the weekend. In fact, we predict that the film can easily rake in Rs 45-50 crore over the first weekend. As our trade expert – Amul Vikas Mohan had mentioned to us earlier, “In an ideal scenario, after collecting Rs 13 crore on Friday, the movie could collect Rs 15 crore on Saturday and Rs 17 crore on Sunday. And with that, Badrinath Ki Dulhania would give Alia her biggest first weekend grosser. 2 States (Rs 38.06 crore) holds this record currently.
