Sunny Pawar, that adorable kid from the movie Lion, has been the cynosure of many eyes at the Oscars 2017 today. Though the event was mired with controversies (Best Picture and In Memoriam goofs), Sunny Pawar still managed to get quite the attention at the event. Sunny Pawar played the young Saroo in the biographical Australian drama, Lion (the adult being played by Oscar nominee Dev Patel), and he has won quite a lot of adulation for his natural performance in the movie. Though he has not acted in a movie before, many felt he should have been nominated in the Best Actor category, along with the likes of Casey Affleck, Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington. The fact that Lion returned home empty handed must have hurt the team, but they cannot deny that Sunny Pawar was one of the bright stars in Oscars 2017.
The best moment was when Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the evening, went down among the audience, and nearly got tripped on by Matt Damon (Kimmel’s trolling of Damon was the perfect highlight). When he went on to Sunny Pawar, he asked some playful questions with the kiddo, before recreating the Lion King moment by raising him up…like the below…
