This Pakistani commercial of Nawazuddin Siddiqui is getting slammed for all the right reasons – watch video

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an actor par excellence. If he is there in a film, the actor is sure to overshadow everyone else in the film with his immaculate acting. The actor has now started working in commercials also. A ketchup ad with Javed Jaffery makes for a hilarious watch too. But recently, he became a part of a Pakistani commercial about a washing machine which rubbed everyone the wrong way. He may have played the part of a husband who’s faking his dominance over his wife in front of his friends but the way it is worded, will leave anyone and everyone appalled. In the video, you can see Nawaz spending a lazy afternoon with his friends when he starts bragging about how his wife ticked him off. He uses the sentence, “Mujhe gussa aa gaya” and then goes on to say ‘dhulai kar di.’ It’s obvious that that actor is using dhulai as a synonym for the washing machine, but we believe it could have been worded better. This sounds extremely tasteless and tactless. Check out the commercial here and you will know what we are saying.

Of course, twitter didn’t take it kindly at all and if you read the reactions, you will totally agree with them

Mid-Day quoted a source close to the actor saying, “He shot for the ad a while ago in Dubai. It is just an ad and there is no need to read between the lines. He has nothing to say about it (the controversy)”. The explanation is even more strange. It may have sounded funny on paper but filmmakers across the world should understand the implications of talking about domestic abuse so frivolously. It’s a crime and shouldn’t be used as a subject of joke. What do you think?
