Half Girlfriend is based on a book written by Chetan Bhagat by the same name which was a bestseller. It means Mohit Suri already had a killer idea on paper which had already been approved by the masses. He just had to spell the magic of on screen romance which he is very good at and the result turned out to be outstanding. No wonder that the film is posting good total at the box office. Growth on Sat: 3.51%.” As you can see, Saturday fared better than Friday which has helped the film keep a steady hold at the box office. You also have to give it to the film that despite Baahubali 2’s humongous presence, Arjun-Shraddha’s tragic love story is getting good response. It clearly shows that people now want to watch something other than a war drama. A Trade source was quoted in an official statement saying, “Half Girlfriend is doing exceptionally well outside of the metros, especially in all big cities in the Hindi markets and and all mass multiplex markets. Such films generally see a drop on Saturday but the film instead grew as the metros picked up in the afternoon and evening shows – taking the total to 10.63cr on the second day.
