Vijay’s Theri vs Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh: Which movie’s music did you enjoy the most?

The audio of both the movies was released on the same day.

On Sunday, March 20th, the audio of two of the biggest movies of South Indian cinema was released – Vijay‘s thriller Theri and Pawan Kalyan‘s actioner Sardaar Gabbar Singh. A huge hype surrounded both movies and the audio of both the films has lived up to it. They have been well received by the fans. However, the burning question on everyone’s mind is that which album is actually better?

Theri

This album is composed by maverick composer GV Prakash who has scored tunes for many good films. Theri is an album, high on energy, with consistent songs and the right kind of variety. Some of the best songs from the album include Jithu Jilladi and En Jeevan. En Jeevan in particular is a melodious masterpiece thanks to Hariharan’s magical voice. It is also the most different and romantic song in the entire album. Other than this number, the rest of the tracks are fun with a liberal use of turntables and EDM influenced themes. Jithu Jilladi is of course the quintessential Kuthu song that promises to become the next big thing in Kollywood. On the whole, it was a great album that the fans and critics enjoyed.

Here is the music review of Theri.

Sardaar Gabbar Singh

Due to the rockstar status of Devi Sri Prasad, this album had very high expectations, and sadly, many feel that it has not quite hit the mark. As required for a masala entertainer, the album has two romantic song, two item numbers, a pumped up title track and a wild fight song. The songs that stand out that is the item number Tauba Tauba and Aadevadanna Eedevadanna. Tauba Tauba is a fun and naughty song which is very catchy owing to Qawalli-like treatment of the song and its amazing beats. On the other hand, Aadevadanna Eedevadanna is the ultimate war song that gives you goosebumps due its wild energy vibes. Other than these two tracks, the romantic numbers O Pilla Shubhanalla and Nee Chepakallu are decent. On the whole, this one felt like a bit of a letdown, and received mixed reviews.
