You’re doing well but if only you did these things as well, Bollywood! Read on…
The Academy Awards is one of the most anticipated awards worldwide. Everybody likes to see who won the Oscars thanks to its prestigious status. And while Leo Finally bagged the Oscar (way to go!), some are happy to have a bunch at home (good going Meryl!). But all in all, it’s always fun to watch the awards because it is entertaining as f**k! However, as the years have passed, Bollywood has not been able to entertain us the way it used to. Be it the fact that since it is telecasted earlier (unlike Oscars) and that the results are out, leaving no room for surprises, it simply has lost its charm. But here are a few suggestions along with videos, keeping the Academy awards in mind, that should help the Bollywood awards go back in time and create some good content in their awards night!
Make the red carpet more dazzling with wow attires.
This is for the actors of BTown. Now I’m not saying that you have to wear international designers and look like them but just give us some moments to swoon over your attires. Something like maybe what Jennifer Lawrence, Brei Larson, Olivia Wilde and Charlize Theron wore this year. Even Priyanka Chopra shimmered in a beautiful white dress that we still can’t get over. While they opted for lengthy cocktail dresses, they definitely dazzled on the red carpet!
Give us some moments at the red carpet to swoon over!
Red carpet is the best place to go all bananas, celebs! Don’t just pose for the shutterbugs but also give your fellow stars some love! Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s reunion on the red carpet and the moments post that was all too Titanic-y. Gave us the feels, for real! While we still root for these two to get together, their red carpet moments were cute and made us go aww!
Hosts, please make us laugh and not cringe!
Clearly the Filmfare 2016 may have had Shah Rukh Khan returning as the coolest host but somehow his efforts fell flat. His quips with Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar and Kapil Sharma’s boring hosting just left us wishing we go to bed right away and wake up to a new day, forgetting all that happened last night. Although Chris Rock this year pulled too many racist strings of making the OscarSoWhite into OscarSoBlack, he did crack some funny ones. I especially loved the cookie selling bit!
Some powerpacked speeches are all we ask for!
You have the stage to yourself! So as winners, the least you can do is make the most of it. The stage is the best platform to raise voices over issues concerning the industry or even the society for that matter. I’m not saying go all philosophical but just make it funny or inspirational.
Like how Cuba Gooding Jr. made us laugh –
And Trisha Arquette’s inspiring speech about equal remuneration that brought the issue in limelight –
And Leonardo DiCaprio’s concern over the climate change resulting in various newfound diseases. He could’ve gotten back at the Oscar’s for letting him suffer without any Oscar for long but he chose to speak about what’s important!
Have some singers perform!
Please! This is a big request. Instead of making the celebs perform and bore the viewers, it would be a good option to ask the singers to unleash their talent and mesmerize us with their voice. Last year at the Oscars, John Legend gave a performance that literally made the audience weep! And this year, Lady Gaga did it for us! Her performance was so moving that the audience in the house stood and applauded!
Give a new spin to way of tributes to life time achievers
Honestly, Lady Gaga is the perfect artist when it comes to giving tributes! Last year at Oscars she gave a tribute to The Sound of Music actress Julie Andrews and this year at Grammy’s she performed in the memory of David Bowie. Even this year when Foo Fighters frontman David Grohl delivered a mesmerizing tribute to late actor Alan Rickman and artist David Bowie, we welled up.
