5 scenes from Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos that did not make the final cut

So, after after three years in the making, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos finally hit the theaters last Friday. And the reactions to this Anurag Basu directed film have been polarised – many have loved the movie to bits while many, who didn’t know that the movie is a musical, were in for a surprise. Honestly, it was quite a discovery for me as well. Never before had I seen a film without a single dialogue. But the spectacular visuals and Ranbir’s brilliant acting chops kept me distracted from exploring the genre any further. I found out that I can actually like a musical, if served with the right ingredients. And finally I discovered that there were quite a few scenes missing from Jagga Jasoos that we had been offered glimpses of during the pre-release promotions of the film…

Extremely excited to see the ostrich riding scene, it was quite a disappointment for me to learn that it lasted only for a few seconds. All that is seen in the trailer, is pretty much what is seen in the film. And well, the following scenes are not even there…

But the above scene might have been chucked because how out of sync Ranbir and Katrina are. You see, Jagga Jasoos is a movie flooding with symmetry movie and the characters act in perfect synchronisation. If you saw the video of Ullu Ka Pattha, you must have noticed how perfectly synchronized it is, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. So, the fact that Katrina is a second late in this scene might just have been a sore sight.

Moving on…this seemingly funny scene is also missing from the movie. From the looks of it, this one seems like a bank robbery, but I can’t place this scene anywhere in plot of the film. Only the Jagga Jasoos team knows where it was supposed to play out. A similar scene was there in Barfi!, so maybe the makers chucked it out to avoid comparisons.

And, this scene featuring Ranbir and Katrina on the railway tracks also got snipped on the editing table. Though we see the build up to this one, we don’t really get to see this particular shot.

I was sincerely hoping to see Govinda in the movie, despite the makers having cleared that his scenes have been edited out (I hoped they were fooling us), but alas, he is indeed not there in the film. So, you can only hope to see the following two scenes on a director’s cut when the DVD releases

However there is one cameo in the film that is quite awesome, and it is something that you should definitely watch out for.

This scene, which was the first look of Jagga Jasoos, as promoted on various platforms was not there either…

These scenes might be amiss from the film but that should not stop you from watching it… for there are many other awesome-sauce scenes in there like a clown’s car.
