Shah Rukh from Dear Zindagi, Salman from KKHH – 5 characters we want to see in their own movie after Taapsee Pannu’s Naam Shabana

When Akshay Kumar’s Baby released in 2015, it received rave reviews and was declared a success at the box office. Not many thought at the time that a character featured for a short duration in the film will have such an impact. So much so, that the makers decided to make a film based on that character and the film is titled Naam Shabana starring Taapsee Pannu. As the promo suggests, the film will focus on the character of Taapsee that was seen in Baby, and it’ll be her backstory. ‘Her story before Baby,’ that’s what the tagline states. One also can’t help but notice that it’ll be the first film in the history of Indian cinema to have a spin-off which is a common occurrence in Hollywood. While we eagerly wait for what Neeraj Pandey has in store for us after the brilliant Baby, here are five other films or rather characters who were interesting enough to have their own films…

Chand Nawab – Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Nawazudding

For many, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Chand Nawab was the show stealer in Salman Khan’s 2015 blockbuster, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He, especially in second half of the film, was instrumental in providing it with right amount of humour, drama and emotional content. While he was part of Bajrangi and Munni’s journey, we don’t really know much about his story apart from the fact that he was a struggling freelance journalist. We would love to see his story, his struggles laced with right amount of subtle humour – Nawazuddin style.

Dr. Jehangir “Jug” Khan – Dear Zindagi

Shahrukh

After watching this big-little gem of 2016, many were left disheartened as very little was revealed about the character of the much-loved psychiatrist, Dr. Jehangir “Jug” Khan. A similar sentiment was shared by Alia Bhatt’s character in the film. How about a Dear Zindagi spinoff starring Shah Rukh Khan?

Sundy/Sandy – Housefull 3

Akshay-Kumar

Housefull franchise is one of the only comedy film franchises, apart from Golmaal series, that has churned successful films one after the other. The films may be panned by critics but is a favourite with the masses. Housefull 3, too, saw its fair share of brickbats coming its way but one thing that everyone was in awe of was Akshay Kumar’s performance of  a man suffering from DID. His character of Sandy was a con artist but it was Sandy’s alter-ego, Sundy, that had everyone in splits. Akshay Kumar as suicidal Sundy was the best part of Housefull 3 and surely deserves a movie of his own. Even if you can’t stand slapstick comedies like Housefull 3, do give it chance for the chronicles of ‘Sundy’.

Aman Mehra – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

salman-kHan

Back in the day, when there was no internet and going for a film in a theatre used to be an event, Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai surprised everyone when Salman Khan’s Aman Mehra entered the scene post interval. We all know how it turned for him at the end of the film. But we would love to know what happened to his character post Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Karan Johar, it’s time to revisit that world, please.

Fateh Singh – Sultan

SAlman

We don’t know about you but when it was revealed that Randeep Hooda’s character was once a celebrated MMA fighter who had to leave the sport owing to his face-off with drugs, I hoped to see a fight or two involving him but it was Sultan Ali Khan’s journey not Fateh Singh’s. However, I would love to see his back story, considering how interesting his character was and his amazing camaraderie with Salman Khan’s Sultan.
