Brahmotsavam music review: Mickey J Meyer delivers a melodic masterpiece for the Mahesh Babu starrer!

The best album of this summer is here!

One of the most highly anticipated music albums of this summer is finally here, that of Mahesh Babu starrer Brahmotsavam. Mickey J Meyer has composed this album which is quite long, for it has seven songs. Mickey had recently composed the music for A Aa which received only a lukewarm response. That being said, the music director always saved the best for filmmaker Srikanth Addala, who is making Brahmotsavam. So let us see if this one of Meyer’s best…

Vacchindi Kada Avakasam

This first song is going to leave a huge smile on your face, it is that cheerful! It is all about a festive occasion in which a large family is totally involved and people are having a time of their life. Mickey J Meyer needs to credited for most of the cheer in the song, which begins with soft guitar strumming in the beginning then takes on the qualities of a party number. Singer Abhay Jodhpurkar is super energetic and it is clear from his enthusiasm in his voice he totally enjoyed crooning this number for us. Overall, the perfect song to begin any album with.

Madhuram Madhuram

A musical medley of sorts, this song is exactly like the title, sweetly melodic! Madhuram Madhuram is a perfect fusion of traditional carnatic style of singing with modern instruments in the background, a fusion that is amazing to say the least. Singers Padma and Sridevi enchant us with their powerful and magical voices as they sing in Sanskrit. Their crooning is complimented by drums. The use of little to no instruments is what makes this song so epic. The second song in the album marks a sudden drop in energy after beginning the album on a very high note.

Brahmotsavam

The title puts the energy of the album right up. Another upbeat song but not as infectiously happy as Vacchindi Kada Avakasam, but a great uplifting song anyway. Mickey J Meyer keeps it simple with light guitar strums and little drums. But the best part about the song are the deep and poetic lyrics which talks about how life is like a festival when your loved ones are with you. Not just that, the teaser video has stunning chemistry between Mahesh Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu and an even more breathtaking cinematography. This song will be a treat to watch on screens.

Aata Paatalaadu

If there is a song that is a little below standard in this album, then it will be this one. Compared to the mind blowing lyrics and musical excellence of the other tracks, Aata Paatalaadu falls flat. But it is a decent song in itself. This song is all about a big family taking a little vacation and enjoying their holidays. In the music department there isn’t nothing much special in this track except for singer Karthik, whose heavenly voice is the only thing that makes this a decent melodic song.

Naidorintikada

An all ladies song this one, it can be compared in a way to Genda Phool song from Delhi-6. Mickey J Meyer begins with simple claps in the beginning which progresses to nice sounding guitar strums and energetic drum beats. The lyrics of the song is more a like a story in itself, and the combination of singers Ramya Behara and Anjana Sowmya is really fun and entertaining. Both the singers carry a certain mischief in their voices which is what makes the track so enjoyable to listen to.

Bala Tripuramani

A really dreamy duet song, it is one of the better songs in Brahmotsavam. The beginning is surprisingly soft and melodic with a delicate touch of pianos but develops into a more peppy and energetic love song. The lyrics are suitable for such a dreamy number and there is a lot of poetic beauty in it. Rahul Nambiar carries the song really well with his powerful yet mellow voice from start to finish. If you did not think much not of this track in the beginning, keep listening, it grows on you!

Put your hands up

As the name of the song suggests, it is a foot tapping party song that will get you dancing in no time. It has a good amount of energy, even if the tempo of the song is not that fast. Music composer Mickey J Meyer himself has sung a part of the song along with Shravana Bhargavi. Both of them do a pretty good job with their vocals, but the best part of the song is the chorus,”Put your hands up.” On the whole, a very good way to end the album.

It needs to be said that Brahmotsavam is one of the most refreshing and melodic albums to hit the shelves in a long time. It gives the listeners a much needed respite from the DSP’s rather loud style or Thaman’s baffling beats. Just like the film has gone back in time to reintroduce the concept of family centric storyline, the album too has brought back the good old melody which Tollywood had been sorely missing. Looks like Mickey J Meyer was saving the best for Srikanth Addala!
