What an amazing and happening week that was! We saw a lot of new honours being showered, a few records broken, brewing of a new controversy, an amazing homecoming and a heartwarming visit on the sets of a particular movie. Like most weeks, it was Tollywood that dominated the scene with Rajinikanth‘s Kabali being the only newsmaker for Kollywood. So let us what all transpired in the last one week in the South Indian film industries…
Mahesh Babu’s homecoming to Burripalem
On Sunday, it was a dream come true for the people of the village of Burripalem when they witnessed Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s arrival to their small village. Being his native place, the handsome actor is determined to improve the infrastructure facilities in the village which will help in making the lives of his people that much better. The actor headed out straight from Brahmotsavam’s audio launch function and actively seeked to establish hospitals, schools and toilets for the betterment of people of the village.
Shruti Haasan marriage rumours
South Indian beauty surprised and shocked us all early in the week as she posted a very mysterious pic on her Instagram. The image showed a Game of Thrones themed lunch menu, but it was the caption which raised our eyebrows. It said,” Having a lunch with my husband.” Of course, after hearing all this, most of Shruti’s male fans were very much distraught. However, it turned out to be just a wild rumour and the actress had not been secretly married and still is very much single.
Jr NTR’s son Abhay Ram visits sets of Janatha Garage
It was a really heartwarming and cute moment when Telugu actor Jr NTR brought his two year old son Abhay Ram to the sets of Janatha Garage. Obviously, the little NTR created a storm on social media as the all the fans doted on the adorable Abhay. Even the cast and crew of the film were completely spellbound by the toddler and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu was all over the child.
Baahubali chosen to be screened at the 69th Cannes Film Festival
The SS Rajamouli epic has added a new feather in its cap. It was chosen to be screened at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, a tremendous honour for any Indian film, even more so for a Telugu film. The Prabhas starrer was chosen particularly for the amazing VFX shown in the fantasy film. The director and producer are even going to host a special seminar on virtual reality at the film festival. With Baahubali winning the National award at the beginning of the year, looks like there is no stopping the movie!
Kabali teaser defeated Salman Khan’s Sultan teaser to create history
Rajinikanth’s Kabali teaser has been busy breaking records ever since it was released on May 1. Recently, it overtook the mighty Baahubali and then it finally made history. Jaws dropped as Kabali teaser crossed over 17 million views and achieved more views than Salman Khan’s Sultan teaser to become the most watched Indian film teaser of all time. What a proud moment for Thalaivar fans!
So that brings the week that was feature to a close. We will be back next week with more hot and happening news from the South film industry.
