Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan: 5 Bollywood actors who took inspiration from South!

These actors have been a part of several remakes

There is a big rumour going around that Salman Khan may play the lead in the remake of Telugu film Kshanam, which has become a massive success. So that got us thinking about 5 big shot Bollywood actors who have all worked in films which were a remake of one South Indian film or another.

Salman Khan

The Bhai of Bollywood has had a connection with South films for a long time. He has worked in a lot of remakes in which the most notable ones are Tere Naam- which was inspired from Vikram’s Sethu, Wanted which is the remake of Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri. Bodyguard was taken from Malayalam film of the same name starring Dileep, Ready was the remake of Ram Pothineni’s film of the same name, followed by Jai Ho which was remake of AR Murugadoss directed Telugu film Stalin and lastly was Ravi Teja’s Kick which was made again in Hindi. Notably, almost all of the above films of Salman were super hits.

Aamir Khan

Mr Perfectionist too has done a movie which was an adaptation of a Tamil film. The actor who is so careful about choosing films could not resist to star in AR Murugadoss’s psychological action film Ghajini. This movie was the remake of highly successful Suriya movie of the same name. Aamir received great praise for his fantastic physique and this was considered even better than the original by some.

Shah Rukh Khan

King Khan has always held South film industries, especially Kollywood in high regard. He has always shown Tamil characters in his movies, like Ra.One and Chennai Express, and he is admittedly a big fan of Thalaivar Rajinikanth. He also played a crucial role in Billu, which starred Irrfan Khan. Billu is a remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol, which starred Sreenivasan and Meena. So all the three Khans have had a connection with South.

Akshay Kumar

The Khiladi has done a large number of movies that were remakes of one movie or the other. Most of his works with director Priyadarshan were remakes including the classic Hera Pheri, which was inspired from Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking. Also movies like Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Kambakth Ishq, Khatta Meetha, Rowdy Rathore, AR Murugadoss’s Holiday and lastly Gabbar is Back are also Hindi adaptations of Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. Akki likes to be affiliated with the South Indian film industry and is even playing a crucial role in Rajinikanth’s Kollywood film 2.O.

Ajay Devgan

Ajay’s most notable remake was the 2011 super hit film Singham, which was originally made in Tamil as Singam starring Suriya. Finally in 2015, he has played the lead in the 2015 thriller film Drishyam, which was originally made with Mohanlal in Malayalam. Both the films did really well at the box office and helped in boosting the actor’s career which was on the decline.

So these are 5 actors who have had affiliations with South films. However, in the end Bollywood is connected to all the regional film industries and both parties have taken inspirations from one another and we hope that this partnership continues in the future.
