Aamir Khan launches Paani Foundation with ex-wife Reena Dutta aiming at water conservation!

A water management initiative like never before!

Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate was widely popular and successful show. The concept of the show revolved around bringing awareness towards social issues. After three successful seasons the Dangal actor is back with another initiative under Satyamev Jayate. This time it is Paani Foundation.

Paani Foundation has Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Reena Dutta as the COO, and Satyajit Bhatkal is the CEO. The directors are Rajiv Luthra, Anand Desai and B. Shrinivas Rao. The main objectives of Paani foundation are water conservation and watershed management through imparting knowledge and bringing a change in everyone’s thinking towards water.

The first initiative by Paani Foundation is Satyamev Jayate Water cup. It is a contest that will spread across three districts, Satara, Amravati and Beed, in its initial stage. This contest is said to be the first step of a very long journey of bringing about a change in society. The gram panchayats can contact Paani foundation until 7th March 2016, in order to participate in the contest. Five participants from each village will be selected and they will be provided free training, water management and, conservation by the foundation.

The final results will be based on the judgment made on quality and quantity of watershed management done by the participants. The first prize is Rs 50 lacs, second prize is Rs. 30 lacs and third prize is Rs 20 Lacs.

Well, in a sense every village will be winner. The advisory board of the Paani Foundation includes Sachin Tendulkar, Ratan Tata, Anil Ambani, Rajkumar Hirani etc.
